Interview Prep
What to Expect
Guests will record from our podcast studio in NYC using our professional-grade equipment.
We will be using a recording tool called Captivate to record the interview in both audio and video.
Personal Tips
Dress comfortably. You will be sitting for a minimum of 60 minutes.
Avoid any dangling jewelry or noisy clothing (e.g. metal watch, polyester vest, etc). The microphones are very sensitive and will pick up even the smallest noises.
Clear the area around your face. We recommend keeping your hair back and out of your face/mouth.
Remote Recording Tips
Assemble or purchase the right equipment. Using an external microphone greatly improves the quality of the audio, and as a result, the performance of the episode.

Pick a room with echo and reverberation control, such a carpet, rugs, and curtains.
Turn off or remove any potential distractions like your phone or a loud clock. Close doors. Don’t run your dishwasher or washing machine if you are at home.
Set up lighting to be directly on your face by sitting in front of a window or using a supplemental light like a desk lamp.
Position the camera correctly so that you are centered and fill the screen.
Completely charge your computer and/or have access to a battery and outlet during the interview. Remote recording can require more power from your computer than usual.
Join at least 10 minutes before your scheduled time. Go through the walk through on how to connect your microphone and headphones and test the volume.
Do not mute and unmute. The changing ambient noise will be distracting to listeners.
Let the data upload. Once the call is over, you can end the call, but please keep the program open while the file uploads. Once the file is completely uploaded, you can close the window.
